The Thursday Threesome for May 30th

Onesome. Healthy. Tell us about one thing you did for yourself that's healthy - and not just physical, mental and emotional health matter, too!

Spend time at home with my family. That takes care of all three.

Twosome. Wealthy. What in life makes you feel wealthy in your heart?

Prayer and lots of it. Some people give this as the knee-jerk "look at me I'm such a good " response, but I seriously believe in prayer. Remember, when you talk to God it's called prayer; when God talks to you it's called schitzophrenia.

Threesome. Wise. Share your favorite proverb or motto... or just make one up yourself

"A witty quote proves nothing". -- Voltaire

Ferris Bueller's Month-and-a-Half Off

Comin' atcha poolside my friends. Until my security clearance goes through, I am camping out at home and taking it easy with my son. This doesn't entirely mean that everything is fun and games. To be sure, there is about 18 months of cleaning that has to get done in this house (which in no way corresponds to when my wife moved into the house) and a variety of outside/yardwork oriented items that need tending to.

On the upside, Jonathan is thrilled - and I do not use that term lightly - to have is daddy home. We are having a blast folks. Walking around, eating cookies, watching Jay-Jay the Jet Plane, hanging over the end of the couch, tickling/wrasslin' episodes, and of course the obligatory typing on the computer. Jonathan and I even had the chance to sit and read for a few moments. Come to think of it, it's hard to tell who's having a better time here. This is nothing serious, I not only have the chance to camp out with my son, I can also catch-up on a host of reading that I will have to do before the fall while taking the chance to write a few articles, one for the local paper, the other for publication.

Add to the stack the Fredericksburg GOP, the local YR unit, Catholic University stuff, and general cleaning duties that I have put off (plus cleaning up after my constantly re-arranging wife) and I have a full plate. Makes you wonder how I worked in a job, doesn't it?

Memorial Day!

Jonathan and I would like to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day, and if you have a chance you should come visit us at the Luminaria at the Confederate Cemetary on Washington Avenue. Make an afternoon/evening out of it in Downtown Fredericksburg. See you there!

One more update!

Last night I updated the website. Some things have been moved around to make everything a bit more navigable, others have been left alone, and there are a few more additions. Check it out and see what you think.

In other news, Jonathan has officially learned the word 'no'. What he has yet to learn is when he should say it. It's okay to say 'no' when he doesn't want food or a toy. It's a whole other deal when I tell him not to touch something and he says 'no'. Grrr. . . but he's learning. 'Please' has officially re-entered the vocabulary as well, the only trick is to get him to use it all of the time. Getting him to say 'please' and rewarding him by letting him touch or play with everything is one way to encourage him to keep saying 'please', but it also teaches him he can get everything he wants by saying 'please'. If you stop doing that, then 'please' becomes sort of worthless - he might as well grunt because it will do him just as much good. The experiment continues.

Allergy shots are fun. Just thought you'd like to know.

Top News This Morning

Just testing an idea. Not much going on this morning in the world - I may have to go with the rant-o'-the-day option, just for kicks.

What to do, what to do. . .

I have a few areas where I'd like to see this site go. Unfortunately, I have no direction. Jason would like to see me turn this into a daily news site with commentary (J's Notes), but there is the potential for a web journal rather than a log (what I have now). Then there is the WorldNetDaily version where I can simply post the rant-o'-the'day on the site and hope people will read them.

Which is an idea. . .

Anyhow, if you would like to offer some input (or have a really cool idea), let me know.
