Tuesday, March 21, 2006 Chef Didn't Quit South Park I have dutifully refrained from commenting on any of this, firstly because I like the show South Park even though it has said some absolutely atrocious things about Christ, Christianity, Catholicism, Mary, etc. Secondly, I find the entire debacle over Scientology to be just plain weird. But sometimes you have to adapt those principles to meet circumstances. So when the rumor mill produces a gem like this, you have to sit up and take notice: Isaac Hayes did not quit 'South Park.' My sources say that someone quit it for him. I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything. Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion. Scientology quit for Issac Hayes? Given the unexhausted hatred the organization has for South Park (and all dissenters), is this too far fetched to be discredited? I have just enough cable to get the internet, and I don't like plugging the kids into the TV (better for them to read a book).
