"Again, the shift to online is clearly happening even though papers have some future ahead of them. Yahoo, better than most--if it cared--could help make that transition the kind that honors the reasons we all should care so much about the future of quality journalism. If Silicon Valley and environs aren't the best place in America to start, what is?"Ultimately, this is going to be the endgame of mainstream journalism. The Washington Post is well on it's way to making just such a transition. Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw groups of blogs banding together and begin printing themselves. The one thing that is separating blogs from MSM at the moment is (1) income and (2) professionalization. Advertising solves problem #1. What indeed solves problem #2?
