Friday, May 19, 2006Webb Spiraling Out of ControlReminiscent of Howard Dean's politics of rage, Webb loses his temper on the air against Democratic primary challenger Harris Miller: But the conversation quickly turned nasty, with Miller questioning Webb's partisan 'values' and Webb calling Miller 'the anti-Christ of outsourcing.' It ended at an impromptu press conference after the taping with a visibly frustrated Webb telling Miller to 'shut your mouth.'Heh heh heh... born fighting! "When we were fighting in the trenches to defeat George Bush and George Allen in 2000, you weren't just voting for them, you were endorsing them," Miller said, ignoring the question of the show's host, Joel Rubin.Very true... but the exchange gets even more heated when Webb is asked the question as to whether or not he'll endorse Miller in the event of Miller winning the primary: Asked whether he would support Webb against Allen in the general election, Miller said that he would. "That's what Democrats do," the former Fairfax County party chairman said.Miller reads as the classier of the two Democratic contenders, while Webb reads as angry, divisive, and unprofessional (the same qualities that drove him out of the Republican Party). I've said before that Miller will more than likely win the Democratic primary, and Republicans should be prepared for a Miller candidacy. Webb's performance illustrates why, though if the radical left truly holds sway within the DPVA, the difference in the general election is going to be akin to fighting Rocky Balboa or fighting one of those inflatable punching bags.

Of course, I wouldn't mind seeing Webb win... because we'd destroy him (and Warner's '08 chances too). Miller a tougher candidate because he has more $$$.
It's really a question of which ship you want to watch scatter itself on the Allen rock.
Even though it's a Democratic primary, why not vote for Webb then? You can help get the weakest candidate, in your opinion, on the ballot. You can join the Republicans for Webb campaign!
Oh yeah...Warner's chances are not tied to Webb or Miller. It's not Warner on the ballot. Now if this were the Governor's race, then I can see your point. But since your guy Kilgore messed that up, that's really not a factor.
Finally, you don't think that the money will flow in if Webb wins? You're crazy. Reid and all of the other Democratic Senators aren't hitching their star to Webb just because they think he's a good guy. They think he has a shot to win.
Nationally, the Democrats smell blood in the water. Bush is hanging around your necks like a stone weight. It's a heavy burden? Isn't it Shaun.
That's why your attacks against Webb are so transparent. I wouldn't be celebrating the activities of what I thought was the strongest candidate. I would want the weakest candidate to win. So according to you, all Republicans should be voting for Webb and not for Miller like some are planning. I know you may not vote for Webb (Democratic Primary and all) but can you please tell the others who are voting in the primary to vote for Webb? Thanks.
Pennsylvania is a better target for a pick-up.
The difference between Miller and Webb in the end is that Miller can self-finance a campaign. Webb cannot, and hence the reason why I believe Miller could be a stronger candidate against Allen.
I wouldn't be celebrating the activities of what I thought was the strongest candidate. I would want the weakest candidate to win.
Let's put it this way -- I have an uncanny ability to set aside my personal beliefs to make objective statements. Most people categorize such thinking as clear, open-minded, thoughtful, analytical, and intelligent.
Partisans call it whatever-they-want for political gain. I'm sure the Miller crowd talks up my opinions as a "see, even Shaun Kenney knows what we know."
I don't think Webb can beat the $$$ issue, much less Tailhook. Too much baggage, too little funds. That again is MHO.
Even though it's a Democratic primary, why not vote for Webb then?
Because I'm a Republican, and Republicans don't vote in Democratic primaries.
I only wish the same code of ethics applied when Republicans ran primaries... but then again, I might be talking from personal experience. :)
