Lebanese Army may join forces with Hizbullah

This from the Jerusalem Post. Kinda blows the entire "poor Lebanon" argument out of the water, eh?

What am I worrying about? Maronite Christians caught in the crossfire. Ever since the SLA disbanded, they are almost entirely dependent on the IDF for protection during wartime.

People often attack Christianity for being theocratic, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Lebanon is a classic example. While Maronite Christians ruled in Lebanon, you had a multi-ethnic, multi-party, and multi-religious society. Post-1975 Lebanon has struggled to revive that experience, but as Hezbollah has demonstrated to the world, Muslim terrorist organizations only have an interest in gaining a toehold and twisting democracy until they achieve theocracy.

Is it any small wonder why the United States refused to recognize HAMAS as a partner for peace in the Holy Land? Was Hezbollah a partner for peace in Lebanon?

I so far refuse to believe this story is accurate, because it makes no sense at all.

Why would the christians and sunnis want to get involved in a war that Hisbollah started, and that is largely NOT impacting any of the christian or sunni parts of the country?

To be completely fair, Shaun ... this article DID come from the Jerusalem Post. While Israel is not nearly as bad as the Iraqi Defense Minister in regards to propaganda and misinformation, this piece (which has no cross reference confirmation whatsoever) has all the flavor of misinformation and propaganda.

I'm not making this stuff up, guys. I promise!

I've seen some news reports that Hezbollah made a political deal with General Michel Aoun.

If so, at least a large chunk of the Marionites have taken the wrong side.

BTW, the Lebanese Defense Minister was Interior Minister when Syria occupied the place. If this guy really runs the army, the Cedar Revolution is wood chips.

They did -- thinking that power would melt Hezbollah's radicalism.

You know, much like Hitler rising to Chancellor of Germany did to the Nazis during the 1930's....

You think the Syrian's would have pulled out if they thought for a second that Hezbollah's position was threatened?

Wood chips it is, but boy do they smell good...

MIKE!

You have forced me to remove the first post from my website, because...

...you pasted a link without turning it into a link!!! It stretched out my website and really made it look cool.

Gotta learn you some HTML man.

I think you'll see the Lebanese army mobilized to protect Lebanese land from an Israeli incursion, at which point they'd have to stand side by side with Hisbollah. Once troops cross the border Lebanon may feel it's less about terrorism and Israel protecting itself and more about losing land and power.
