DenverPost.com: Musgrave win bucked national trend

For those of you keenly interested, we won in Colorado.

Blogging will remain light for the next few days. Glad to see the Marriage Amendment passed in Virginia. Extremely nervous to see that Allen is on the precipice, something I don't think any of us saw going into 2006.

For those interested, I will be moderating a panel at the VCAP Virginia Conservative Convention this Saturday in Richmond. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Well, the Shaun Kenney stock just went up. I wonder if anyone in Virginia can afford him anymore?

Shaun, see you on Saturday. Look what I posted on Deo Vindice that I wrote about Webb in June on why he was a contender.

Congratulations.

I know a Conservative incumbent, Northrop, in KY lost. Was the fellow who lost the seat in western NC to the Dem conservative a conservative incumbent? Thought you might track these things.

I'm sure there's a place for Shaun Kenney in Virginia...

Congrats, Bro.

Congrats to them for running a campaign that really connected to her base. Beautiful piece of work. The non-stop attack ads were simply classic GOP. Too bad it didn't work so well elsewhere. Big kudos to you Shaun, super work.

JAB, I think you are talking about Taylor, who lost to Heath Shuler, the former Redskins quarterback. At least that race matches your general description.

If so, Taylor wasn't very conservative, and he was corrupt, scandal-ridden, and should have been purged by the party. A good man tried to primary him but lost decisively, because you can't really knock off incumbents, although in one or two cases we did and it saved us a seat or two.

If Shuler doesn't do exactly what he promised to do, I would expect that seat to go back to the republicans, as I also expect barring really good work by the democrats that FL-16 and Tx-22 will also go back republican, as well as probably Sherwood's seat in PA (that's Foley, DeLay, and a guy who confessed to a 5-year-affair).

If Shuler/Taylor wasn't the race you were asking about, sorry.

Thanks, Charles. You answered my question.

Shaun:

1. Congratulations on your win. Knowing you as I do, your hard work paid off to the detriment of your opponent.
2. Welcome back to the Commonwealth. You've been missed.
3. What panel are you moderating. The website only shows you as a member of a panel.
4. If you are moderating a panel, I may be inclined to manifest myself in my corporeal form...but only if you have a substantial role to play this weekend. Otherwise, I'll perfect my Arpegiando strums on my autoharp. Please advise.

How was the Virginia Conservative Convention?

Moderately attended, but boy if you went you got a show!

Next year there will be nothing but disciples for the VCAP Convention. I thought it was extremely well done.

Good to have you back, Shaun!

I thought about going to the convention, but decided I just couldn't afford it after all the money I'd already spent in campaign contributions this year. With the baby coming, the budget is tight.

I hope you'll tell the rest of us what we missed!
