Monday, December 17, 2007 Bucky R.I.P. Coming home this evening, in the front of the driveway is a small cat... Avid readers of this blog may know of our new September kitten arrival in the form of Bucky, named after the presumptive father (which the kids named Buckle Up). Adding to the irony, Buckle Up was coincidentally run over this Saturday. Adding still to all of this, Buckle Up was a bit of a mystery as to whom precisely owned him. Turns out the cat whose real name is Stubby was owned by an elderly gentleman living down the road... who had a stroke this morning. It always comes in threes. Shaun, I don't know. It depends on your kids. When Romeo had to be put to sleep, the Munchkin was 6, and I brought her out to see his body and to say good-bye. We talked about how he looked asleep, but wasn't, and why there's death in the world (Genesis 3). We talked about how much we loved him, but that he was sick and in pain and now he wasn't. And we talked about how we'd see him in Heaven - although, to be completely honest, that portion of the conversation was a little tentative, since the Bible doesn't have anything specific to say on that topic. Anyway, it worked for her. But then again, I'm blessed by the fact that she's always been a very well-balanced and -grounded girl. Now, of course, all I'm worried about is the joy of puberty... NOT! LOL I'm very sorry to hear about your poor purrs' deaths, though. Cats in particular always make me feel sad when they die. Sending lots of love and hugs, and give my blog-niece a nice big raspberry on her tummy, and nibble on those tiny toes for me! ;-) At 8:49 AM, Gardner said...
