I think some independent voters might vote for McKinney, but only because they refuse to A) - vote for any of the DNC or GOP candidates and B) not vote at all.
I think 3rd party on the ballot stands a chance of picking up a protest vote.
Oh, no question. Don't get me wrong -- I'm certain there are folks who will vote McKinney or third party regardless.
I question whether it is realistic to believe libertarian-minded Ron Paul supporters will jump ship and support a Green Party candidate. That's a bit far fetched IMO.
