Say what you will about the Presidential and House elections, but how is the lost of the Senate seat Frederick's responsibility?

It's the responsibility of John Hager et al. when they decided to do a convention to nominate a candidate for the seat instead of a primary.

They decided to screw over Tom Davis — who actually had a chance to win the seat — and it cost them a Senate seat.

It also helped the RPV lose the 11th Congressional District (Davis's old seat), as well.

Might have also caused a lower percentage of people in Novaville to vote for McCain than would have voted for McCain if Davis had been on the ticket.

In my opinion, it was nearly impossible for a Republican of any stripe to win against Mark Warner. Personally I preferred the convention method as it allowed for a more conservative candidate. Although Davis' name may have improved things in Northern VA, it certainly would not have been favorable to conservatives in many parts of the state (though, to be fair, Gilmore didn't generate wildfire either).
Was Frederick responsible for the loss? Personally...I don't really know. I would have liked to see more RPV involvement like was done in 2006, but I'd really need to get some more info on the matter.
